A Bicycle Built for Two (Theatre of the Beat)
Winnipeg Fringe Festival
3.5 Stars
Theatre of the Beat’s four-hander, “A Bicycle Built for Two,” explores couples’ relationships at various stages, and the communication (or lack thereof) in their lives.
It is a solid, well-written show, with clever dialogue, adept character changes and an actual vintage tandem bike onstage. The actors work well together, and the opening night went off without a hitch.
At times, the acting seemed to lack authenticity and came across as theatre school “acting” – As a result, some of the characterizations lacked emotional honesty. However, this will be solved with experience and time.
Solid Fringe fare with a positive message.
