Fringe mainstay Tim Motley has brought another Film Noir adventure from his character Dirk Darrow to the Edmonton Fringe. And it’s an impressive treat. A mix of magic, humour and just enough double-entendre jokes to keep the audience laughing, it is a completely enjoyable hour.

Motley adeptly plays several characters during Dirk Darrow’s 1940s murder investigation, ranging from a rapping professor to a humble Fringe performer. The characterizations were strong, the magic was solid, and the surprise twist at the end was in true Noir style.

With so much Fringe fare on offer, this is one show that shouldn’t be missed. A talented actor, a zany plot, a clever premise, and magic – what more could anyone want? And don’t forget the rapping professor – That alone is worth the ticket!
